Mechanical engineering: master’s degree in engineering
It’s a great event in the history of our country’s development in engineering degree and graduate education to establish the master degree of engineering, to cultivate engineering master and to found educational instruction committee. All the teachers for major courses have the title above the rank of associate professor, from which 43% are professors, and 77.2% are teachers with PhD.
Research areas for engineering masters:
Mechanical design and theory, machinery manufacturing and automation, mechatronic engineering, engineering graphics, fluid transmission and control, mechatronic control and automation, precision instrument and machinery, vibration and shock noise, vehicle engineering, industrial engineering, etc.
Dissertation subject for engineering master degree should be derived directly from each company’s real programs, or it should have a clear production background and application value. The subject could be a complete engineering design project or a technical renovation program, or new technique, new material, new equipment, or the research and development of new products. The thesis subject should be technologically difficult and advanced; also it should contain enough workload and reflect the author’s comprehensive ability of using science theory, research and technical methods to solve real engineering problems.
Dissertation form: (1) Engineering design and product development report; (2) Research papers.
Review and Defense:
The evaluation standard for engineering master degree thesis should emphasize the author’s comprehensive ability of using science theory, research and technical methods to solve real engineering problems and emphasize technological difficulties, advancement and workload; what’s more, attention should be paid to the author’s new thoughts, new solutions and new progress in settling real engineering problems; of course, their new techniques, new technologies and new design should be high-level and practical, and the possibility of bringing about economic and social benefits should be investigated.
Engineering master students must finish all the elements in the training scheme; they can apply for the thesis defense for master degree only after they pass bottom line of performance. There should be 3 experts as reviewers and five experts as defense judges, and at least two of them are senior experts are from the engineering front.
Power engineering: master’s degree in engineering

Engineering master students must get at least 28 course credits. Besides Master English, they should also learn courses like nature dialectics, scientific socialism theory and practice, numerical analysis, senior heat transfer, senior combustion science, modern cybernetics, etc. Moreover, they need to read some related articles and attend some lectures or academic reports.
