To keep abreast of the latest international developments in mechanical design, stimulate academic discourse, facilitate the exchange of cutting-edge research findings, envision future trends, and promote the advancement and integration of mechanical design disciplines, the 2025 International Conference on Mechanical Design (ICMD) & 23rd Annual Conference on Mechanical Design was successfully held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, from May 9 to 11, 2025.The conference was organized by the Mechanical Design Division of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, hosted by Zhejiang University, and co-organized by Zhejiang Sci-Tech University and China Machine Press.

A total of 12 parallel sessions were set up at this conference, focusing on themes such as conceptual design, structural and multidisciplinary optimization design, digital and intelligent design, digital twin, reliability design, industrial design, bionic design, mechanism and robot design, green design, high - end engineering equipment design (underground engineering equipment, construction machinery), high - end aerospace, marine and air equipment design (aviation, aerospace, navigation), and design and simulation industrial software. Sixty - nine top experts and scholars in relevant fields were invited to give invited reports in the parallel sessions, and the participants were organized to give a total of 230 oral reports in the 12 parallel sessions.

The 2025 International Conference on Mechanical Design and the 23rd Academic Annual Meeting on Mechanical Design have established a high-level academic exchange platform for scientists worldwide in the field of mechanical design.
