ZJU ME students have achieved good results in the 3rd China Postgraduate Robotics Competition

On August 25, 2021, the third national final of the "Optics Valley Cup" China Postgraduate Robot Innovation Design Contest was held at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Zhejiang University groups have made new breakthroughs and was named as "Excellent Organization Unit" for winning 1 first prize, 1 second prize, and 3 third prizes.


The scope of entries in the China Postgraduate Robot Innovation Design Contest involves new concepts, new technologies, and new products of robots, and focuses on assessing postgraduates’ ability to insight into market demand, innovative design, and the realization of key technologies. A total of 762 teams from 167 training units participated in this competition. After preliminary evaluation, a total of 172 teams from 73 training units entered the finals, of which 6 teams are from Zhejiang University.


After online video display, online PPT defense, and expert review of the competition for special prizes, the work of Professor Jun Zou and Academician Huayong Yang of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Wei Tang and other students’ work "customized self-healing flexible electro-hydraulic pump "Standing out among many participating teams and winning the special prize of the National Finals, this is also the first time that Zhejiang University has won this award in the competition.


In addition, the work "Zero Turning Radius Robot for Complex Underwater Environment" by Rui He and others won the national first prize, and the work of Huilai Li and others' work "Highly Efficient Driving Exoskeleton Robot" won the second national prize. The works of Difei Qian and others students’ "Research on the design, control and energy saving of redundant hybrid hydraulic heavy-duty manipulators", the works of Sun Haonan and other students "Magnetic crawling software robot design based on magnetic field-assisted photo-curing manufacturing process", and the works of Wang Yunjiang and other students "Modular drive serpentine arm for spinal cord minimally invasive surgery" won the national third prize.
