The problems of running, dripping, leaking and noise are stubborn diseases of the hydraulic system, which severely restrict the application of the hydraulic system. Recently, Zou Jun’s research group from the School of Mechanical Engineering of Zhejiang University has made important progress in this direction. It has developed a self-healing electro-hydraulic driven pump, which realizes the silent pumping of dielectric fluid through an electric field and self-healing by adding to the liquid, so as to realize the self-repair of damaged and leaking areas. The internationally renowned academic journal Nature Communications reported the latest research result "Customizing a self-healing soft pump for robot" from the State Key Laboratory of Fluid Power and Electromechanical Systems, Zhejiang University. This research was supported by a major project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China "Basic Research on Smart Electro-Hydraulic Actuators". All the authors of the paper are from the team of Academician Yang Huayong. Doctoral student Tang Wei is the first author of the paper. Associate researcher Zhang Chao and Professor Zou Jun are the corresponding authors of the paper.
