This is the first time that Zhejiang University overseas social practice has set foot in South America territory.

In order to actively respond to the deployment of the national "One Belt One Road" initiative, centering on the school's "double first-class" construction goal, according to the overall requirements of the "two sides and two roads" strategic layout based in Zhejiang, facing the country, and going to the world, the Graduate Work Department of the Party Committee and the Graduate School have been since 2018 Begin to implement the "Zhiyuan" program graduate students' overseas social practice action plan, which aims to guide graduate students to actively serve the national strategic needs, firmly establish the "four self-confidence", and actively practice the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind.

In 2019, "Zhiyuan" plans to further expand the territory of overseas practice bases for graduate students on the basis of the first phase. With the cooperation of Zhejiang University and Xugong Group, the overseas practice footprint of graduate students has been extended to Brazil, which is a geographical "point of development" with China, and set foot on the South American continent for the first time.

At present, as the first team of the 2019 "Zhiyuan" project, the Brazilian Graduate Overseas Social Practice Group has stationed in XCMG Brazil Manufacturing Co., Ltd., the chairman unit of the Chinese-funded Enterprise Association in Brazil, and awarded the license to establish the first Zhejiang University overseas social practice in South America. base. The students are investigating in-depth research problems in the field of large-scale key construction machinery, cross-cultural integration of Chinese-funded multinational corporations, and image building of large overseas corporations, and provide technological innovation services from the perspective of Zhejiang University.

Next, the practice team will also visit Campinas State University and the Confucius Institute, the local Chinese primary school in Sao Paulo, the Chinese Consulate General in Sao Paulo, etc., and expand the global pattern through a series of scientific and technological research, cultural visits, youth exchanges and other activities. Perceive the image of a big country, tell the story of China well, and use the power of young people to contribute to the "One Belt One Road" South American Pearl Strategy.

China and Brazil are the largest developing countries in the eastern and western hemispheres. They have aspirations for common development and huge development potential. Both are "BRIC countries" with a shared destiny and connected prospects. 2019 marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil, the first year of the second "Golden Decade" of BRICS cooperation, and the "Brazil Year" of the BRICS countries. The Chinese government has designated Brazil as an important fulcrum for the extension of the "Maritime Silk Road" to South America, and is actively discussing with Brazil to jointly build the "Belt and Road" and deepen cooperation in various fields such as technological innovation.
