The Institute of Mechanical Design and Engineering is one of the seven research institutes within the School of Mechanical Engineering at Zhejiang University. It is one of the key components of the State Key Laboratory of Fluid Power and Electromechanical Systems and subordinate to Mechanical Engineering discipline, a national key discipline. In the past five years, the institute has won one Second Prize for Progress in Science and Technology in National-level, four First Prizes for Progress in Science and Technology in Province-level, and one First prize for teaching achievement in Province-level. The institute currently consists of 17 full-time faculty members (5 full professors, 12 associate professors, 2 lecturers) and over 100 graduate students.
