Prof. Xin-jian GU, PhD and professor in advanced manufacturing， Zhejiang university, China. Prof. Gu gained his BEng, MPhil and PhD degrees in 1982, 1987 and 1993 respectively. Prof. Gu was a visiting scholar at Saarland University, Germany (1996) and Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2001,2002,2003). Deputy Director of research center for innovation management and sustained competition capability, Zhejiang University. Member of the National Standardization Committee of knowledge management, member of the national automation system and integration Standardization Technical Committee, and chairman of industrial data sub technical committee. Deputy director of specialized committee of group technology and intelligent integrated technology of Chinese mechanical engineering society;. Vice president of intelligent manufacturing specialized committee of China artificial intelligence society. His research interests are: Green manufacturing Manufacturing Information Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Network Manufacturing, Mass Customization, Knowledge Management, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Group Technology, Mechanical Manufacturing System and Engineering, Industrial Engineering. Prof. Gu has published over 470 papers, 10 books, and is the winner of several provincial level prizes and a country level prize. He was in charge of 5 NSF projects and 7 national 863 projects.
