Dr. Xiaowen Song is currently a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Zhejiang University. She received her B.Sc. in Computational Mathematics from Fudan University in 1989, followed by a M.S. degree in Computational Geometry & Computer Graphics and a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Zhejiang University in 1992 and 1996, respectively. From Nov. 2001 to Feb. 2003, she studied at the Department of Computer Science, Brigham Young University, U.S.A. as a visiting scholar. She is a recipient of Zhejiang University outstanding faculty award, and serves as a member of the reviewing panel of Research Startup Funding for Oversea Returnees, Chinese National Ministry of Education (MOE). Dr. Song is a member of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, and serves as the deputy secretary-general of Mold Design Committee at the Design Branch of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society. In addition, she is a core member of the Key Innovation Team on Science and Technology of Zhejiang Province. Dr. song’s research interests cover a broad area with special emphases on: 1. Design theory and methods including: i) product modeling and process planning; ii) principle of innovative design; iii) simulation based analysis and optimal design technology; iv) computer graphics and image process; and v) simulation platform technology based on virtual reality. 2. Vehicle engineering focusing on optimal design of vehicle body and chassis system through aerodynamics test and simulation based dynamic analysis. 3.
