Lecture 23 for the Mechanical Science and Engineering Development Forum —Professor Hanxiong Li’s Academic Symposium was successfully held in Yuquan campus of Zhejiang University on January 7, 2011. The topic of this symposium is ‘Research Wisdom—Issues, Methods, Challenges’. The host of this meeting is Professor Xin Fu, the Associate Dean of ME Department. More than 100 teachers and students in this major listened to Professor Li’s excellent speech, and together did they discuss about the wisdom and joy in research.
Professor Li’s has a wide range of research fields from intelligent control to industrial process modeling and control, etc. In this lecture, he analyzed the key difference between academic science research and industrial development research in a special perspective, which demonstrated the profoundness of philosophy to some extent.
At last, Professor Li led everyone to think about the challenges that we met in the new century and suggested how to handle with each one of them. A lot of questions have been asked after the speech and the symposium was closed with hearted applause.
