Mechanical product design theories, product design methodology and advanced manufacturing techniques. Product information modeling methods for mechanical product solution design, including product axiomatic design, generalized performance symbol modeling, and weighted automatic configuration mapping.

ADDITION:

Dr. Feng is a member of Academician TAN Jianrong’s academic team, which is affiliated to the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Automation of Zhejiang University. He is also the permanent research personnel with both the State Key CAD & CG Laboratory of ZhejiangUniversity and the Key Advanced Manufacturing Technology Laboratory of Zhejiang Province.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

Major achievements for the recent five years include: Principal of one State Natural Science Foundation Program, Principal of one State Post-doctoral Science Foundation Program, Key Member of one State Science Support Planning Program and Key Member of two 863 Key Programs. Through these programs, he brought up a series of product information modeling methods for mechanical product solution design, including product axiomatic modeling, generalized performance symbol modeling, and weighted automatic configuration mapping, etc. These methods were successfully applied in a good many important enterprises and sophisticated products, and exerted significant technological and economical benefits. He was therefore awarded the First Prize of Advanced Science and Technology of Zhejiang Province in 2005 (ranking 5th), the First Prize of Advanced Science and Technology of the Ministry of Education of P.R. China in 2005 (ranking 10th), the Second Prize of Advanced Science and Technology of the Ministry of Education of P.R. China in 2006 (ranking 7th) and the Top Ten Outstanding PhDs of Zhejiang University in 2005.

 

On the academic regard, Dr. Feng has released more than 50 papers on domestic and international key academic journals and at international conferences, such as Computers & Mathematics with Applications, Transactions of the Institute of Measurement and Control, Journal of Materials Processing Technology, International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering (both English and Chinese) and Computer Integrated Manufacturing System (CIMS), etc. (10 publications are indexed by SCI and 25 indexed by EI Compendex). Besides, he has published his book named Modeling, Evolution and Application of Design Knowledge (together with Academician Tan Jianrong) at the National Defense Industry Press. Moreover, Dr. Feng holds 3 authorized patents and 6 registrations of software copyright in China.
