2018-09-12

On September 10, Zhejiang University welcomed incoming international students to campus. They will embark on their new journey full of admiration for the Chinese culture and the university.

Vice President HE Lianzhen extended her cordial welcome to students. She amiably asked them about their accommodation in the International Student Residential Hall. “If you have any queries about the dormitory, we will try every means to help you out,” she said reassuringly.

Marcus is from England. One of his friends, who participated in the UK University Students Study China Programme, told him that ZJU was really awesome, so he applied for a one-year program to learn Chinese with curiosity and aspiration. “I feel great here. The pace of life is not too fast, which makes me very comfortable. I look forward to my study and life here at ZJU,” said Marcus.

“I am very glad that I’ve got the opportunity to study at ZJU with the Confucius Institute scholarship,”said Monica in gratitude. Monica graduated from the University of Wroclaw in Poland and was admitted to the master’s program of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. She hoped to teach Chinese as a foreign language and become an expert of Chinese studies.

At present, approximately 1,200 new international students, including 240 students in postgraduate programs, 520 students in undergraduate programs and 410 Chinese learners, have completed their registration.
